Millersville, MD - Pyrus North America Ltd. announced they are shipping TypeTool, the newest addition to their growing digital typography product line. TypeTool is designed to meet the needs of entry level typographers. Those who need a quick font fix such as an addition, deletion, or manipulation of a few characters in an existing character set. The product is compatible with either TrueType or Adobe Type 1 font formats.
TypeTool's main features include a WYSIWYG Editor and the automatic kerning of characters. The WYSIWYG editor allows the user to see the font change as a variety of changes are applied to the characters. In addition, kerning or character spacing directly affect the appearance of any font. Poor character spacing means a poor appearance. TypeTool solves this problem by automatically kerning the characters for the user. Or, if necessary, the user can take control of the kerning process.
These features are enhanced by:
- A simple no-node editor - eliminates the need to grab specific control points or nodes. Simply click on the line to move and drag it to the desired position.
- Print the results - Print examples of the changed font or word while the work is in process. This simple print feature makes font manipulation and editing quick and precise.
- Easy character transformations - A simple drag of the cursor will stretch, widen, or narrow the character.
- TrueType and Adobe Type 1 compatibility - Work with virtually any font and save in either format. Great feature for font conversions from one format to another.
